EYDI LAMPASONA

Eydi Lampasona is an American artist who works mostly with printmaking, collage, mixed media pieces and assemblages. She has many books and conducts workshops to help others create art.

Eydi is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, National Collage Society, the International
Society of Experimental Artists and the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media.

There isn't much information on her but what initially attracted me was her free use of her materials, especially paint. her pieces seem effortless yet full of emotion.

Hope Kroll

Hope Kroll an American artist works mostly with collage. He uses old magazines and books and often incorporates birds or insects into her pieces. She juxtaposes them againsts geometric, harsh machinery as well as grotesque medical images of humans. Her pieces are often created on pages of old books as well as placed on antique covers.

Kroll best describes what her pieces are about. She stated "Birds are a repeated theme throughout my work, often representing spiritual messengers, while my machines tend to reflect my own inner turmoil and conflict particularly in dealing with the outside world. My use of small children generally expresses more of a personal narrative, hailing back to early childhood fears and nightmares. The fact that the finished pieces are generally quite small allows me to add a wealth of subtle, intricate details."

I love her pieces because they're unique. I love birds and how she's juxtaposed them. I also really like the simplicity of her pieces such as the fact that she doesn't overpower them with tons of colors.

Susan Adame

Susan Adame is an American artist who focuses on collage. I love the shapes in her collages but the subject matter in them are a bit too simple for my taste. I do appreciate the simplicity of her works though. They're kind of calming.

I find it interesting that Adame makes her own paper and that she uses more materials than just paper. She focuses on texture and color which doesn't make her pieces distracting.

Adame is inspired by nature and fabrics. She often takes fabrics she likes and scans them and then alters them transforming them into paper. I found this pretty interesting.

Peter Lewis

Peter Lewis is an American collage artist who creates pieces that showcase pop culture of the 2oth and 21st centuries. He uses a lot of magazine as well as book and found images and combines them to create psychedelic worlds. His work is often described as surreal and humorous.

Lewis's work is less known in the art world but I still like it. I love the energy of the pieces as well as the humor in them.

Winston Smith

Winston Smith is an American artist who focuses mainly on collages as well as posters and illustrations. He uses images from vintage magazines and puts them in compromising positions and surreal landscapes. His work is also controversial. One of his most controversial pieces involved Jesus nailed to a cross of dollars and was ultimately banned. He also likes to use religious and political figures in his collages.

I was suprised to find out that he helped create an album cover for one of Green Day's cds.

Overall I like his work. I like the surrealism of them and the craziness. I just wish that Smith used other materials than just magazine images. I like collages that have more mixed mediums.

Elizabeth Murray

I've studied Elizabeth Murray before. I love the playfulness and colors of her pieces. I also like the fact that they look put together much like a collage.

Murray is an American painter who is known for her colorful and crazy shaped pieces. She plays with space by often cutting holes in her pieces creating negative space and raising them so that they're not flat against a wall. Murray incorporates common household objects such as cups and spoons as well as cartoon figures. She draws inspiration form expressionists. I can also see a bit of abstraction, surrealism and pop art influence in her pieces.

Her pieces are very popular and can be found in many collections. I remember her piece was on the cover of our 2d book too.

peter saul

Peter Saul, an American painter, mostly prevalent around the 60's and 70's, draws influence from Pop Art and the expressionism movement. His inspirations include surrealist artists as well as comic books. His pieces are political and take current events into account. His bright colors mix puns, misspelled words, politics, the present and the past. His pieces are very colorful and crowded. They all have a lot going on which adds to the energy of the pieces. They are very energetic at least to me. Elizabeth Murray has said to have been inspired by his pieces.

His paintings have a sort of hip hop, underground, city feeling to me. They're not exactly what you would hang up in your business office in DC. I love the craziness of his work as well as the fact that his pieces have a message.
